Les Seddon
The League was saddened recently by the news of the death of Les Seddon. He was a popular and well-liked supporter of badminton in St Helens for many years. A fine player and former Treasurer of the League Les had battled against leukaemia and died just before Christmas. His service was held at St Helens Crematorium on the 6th January 2009 and was attended by family, friends and many colleagues from local and regional badminton clubs. The League sends their heartfelt condolences and sympathy to Jan and family at this sad time. In accordance with family requests a donation from the League has been sent to the patient welfare fund at the transplant unit of the Royal Liverpool Hospital.

Ronald Edward Wright
22nd January 1934 - 13th June 2007 On the 13th June 2007, the league Vice President, Ron Wright, sadly passed away. Ron was taken ill while on holiday in Cornwall and despite all the efforts of the local medical personnel, died in hospital in Plymouth. He leaves his wife Barbara, daughter Julia and family. Ron served as Secretary of the league for 21 years from 1963 and the league's success during this period was mainly due to his efforts. He continued to serve as Chairman and President before taking up his current position. Ron was a strong and memorable character who will be greatly missed.
