Disability CPD Workshop

As part of Badminton England’s investment in to Coaches and supporting their development, we are inviting all members of our Coach Accreditation Scheme to attend this workshop FREE of charge! So why not come along and discover how you can deliver engaging sessions to disabled participants.

This workshop aims to develop Coaches’ knowledge, awareness and confidence to deliver badminton sessions to a range of various impairments disabled participants might have. On this workshop, you will cover the following areas:

  • Understanding movement and hitting for wheelchair badminton
  • Understanding the implications for coaching badminton to disabled participants with standing lower impairments
  • Understanding the implications for coaching badminton to disabled participants with standing upper impairments
  • Understanding the implications for coaching badminton to short stature participants

The details of the workshop are as follows:

Date: Sunday 21st June 2020

Venue: Greenbank Sports Academy, Greenbank Lane, Liverpool, L17 1AG

Time: 10am – 1pm

FREE for all Badminton England Registered Coaches

Foundation Award (Level 1) Coaching Course

Course Information

Dates: Sunday 15th & Sunday 22nd March 2020
Times: 9am – 5pm on both days
Venue: Broadway Badminton Centre, Grange Park, St Helens, Lancashire, WA10 3RY
Cost: £175 for Badminton England members and £195 for non-members

* All learners must be aged 16 or over on the first day of the course.

Foundation Award in Coaching Badminton

Our new Foundation Coach course is the starting point for people who would like to get into coaching badminton and become a coaching assistant. This course will teach you to:

  • Lead fun games, activities, and tournaments
  • Understand the badminton landscape and structure in England
  • Support a ‘coach’ in the delivery of a session through:
    • Delivering appropriate warm ups/ cool downs
    • Appropriately feeding
    • Having a basic knowledge of hitting actions, tactics and the rules of the game
  • Deliver Badminton England programmes such as:
    • No Strings Sessions
    • SmashUp!
    • Racket Pack Lite
  • Understand the badminton landscape
  • Effectively support the development of clubs/ sessions
  • Maximise the participant experience
